Many Christians are walking around depressed and they don’t even know it’s because they’re living in disobedience.
In Ecclesiastes 3:12 Solomon says, “I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives,”
He is saying that in this life there is nothing better than to do good and be joyful. We are commanded to be joyful and do good, but did you know that true joy comes from Yah? Did you know that in order for joy to be activated it must be partnered with active righteousness?
I found this out the hard way. Just a few months ago, I had a spirit of heaviness and I was far away from Yah. Not because He moved but because I left. I wasn’t reading my Bible, I was barely praying, and I was being disobedient to the call He placed on my life. I was so depressed, so confused, and so unsure about life. I had many uncertainties and didn’t know where I was going or where I was headed. I also started to have so many doubting questions about the faith.
It’s easy to get confused about what’s true and what’s not when there are so many people online speaking different things. I knew the only way for my questions to be answered and to get the full truth was by reading the Bible for myself.
So, I committed to reading one chapter a day starting with Genesis. I began to notice a difference within myself once I started that. Next, I decided to start praying more often, every day and multiple times a day. When I did this I began to get more clarity. Not only about Yah’s Word but His plan for me and my life.
As our relationship grew through prayer and reading the Bible, He reintroduced to me His plan for my life and how I could best serve Him. I began to be obedient by relaunching my blog and my YouTube and using them as platforms to share the faith. And let me tell you, ever since I have been obedient I have a new found joy for life. People are even telling me that I’m glowing. I know that it’s only because they see the Holy Spirit on me.
This is not to brag, but to encourage and admonish you.
Your disobedience is leading to your depression. Your lack of reading the Bible is leading to your uncertainty. Your lack of prayer is leading to your confusion. It’s time to make changes and be intentional about your relationship with Yah. There is no joy and goodness apart from Him. If you really want your life to change, if you really want to be set free from the shackles of your mind, you must draw near to Him.
Jeremiah chapter 23:13 says, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Seek Him wholeheartedly, He is waiting for you. When you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you. And He will replace your cloak of heaviness with a garment of praise.
Prayer
Let’s pray. Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you right now in Yahushua name. We give you the glory, praise, and honor. First and foremost, we want to repent for being disobedient.
Please forgive us for straying away from you and neglecting the relationship that you called us to. Forgive us for forsaking the reading of your Word and the communion of prayer. Please give us a new heart and a new mind to seek you while you may be found.
Give us strength and light a fire within us that we may thirst and hunger for righteousness that we may be filled. Please extend your grace unto us. Thank you for this word and for calling us out and giving us another chance to build a relationship with you. Thank you for making the way plain and the path straight. Help us to start reading our bibles and praying more.
Please reveal the call on our lives as you see fit that we may serve you in spirit and truth and gather more souls for your harvest. Please remove the spirit of depression and replace it with your everlasting joy.
Please let us find peace in your presence. We pray that your will be done and your way be had at all times. In Yahushua name we pray Amen.
