If nothing in your life has changed since you found Christ, you need to ask yourself why. Because following Him was never meant to leave you the same. But right now, we’re seeing a version of Christianity where people confess Christ and continue living like the world; that’s a problem. And this isn’t new.
In Romans 3:8 it says, “And why not say, ‘Let us do evil that good may come’?—as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say. Their condemnation is just.”
Paul was addressing people who twisted the message of grace into permission to sin and we’re seeing the same thing today.
My message isn’t for the world, so I won’t address them but I do want to address how their ideas and way of living is becoming blurred with the lives of those who profess Christ.
I’ve started to see an increase of people come to Christ, which is a beautiful thing but there is something missing from many of them. There is no appearance of holiness, they still look like the same person they were when they met Yahushua.
Now of course you should come as you are, but you should never stay that way. I know everyone has to start somewhere but there should always be evidence of an attempt to change.
Christianity is slowly becoming something you say but not something you do. And it was never meant to be that way. Many “believers” are confessing Christ but living like the world.
Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to the world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,” we are to be transformed by the reading of Yah’s Word and we are called to take upon the image of Christ as it speaks about in Ephesians chapter 4.
We cannot be like the world and indulge in wickedness, calling good evil and evil good, proclaiming there is freedom found in sin. There is no freedom in needing an alcoholic drink every time you eat. There is no freedom in needing to smoke to relieve stress. There is no freedom in needing to clap back because you felt disrespected. There is no freedom in needing to overeat because you had a bad day.
All of that is bondage. True freedom is only needing Christ. He will become everything you need. You don’t have to run to your vices, He is always right there with you. And If we are honest, some of those things we don’t even need, we just want them because they are fun and exciting.
I myself recently fell into sin. A few months ago I started drinking again, after being sober for four years. It started with a wine cooler at a barbecue. Then I found myself drinking a wine cooler every night. Then it was actual wine and I was going through a bottle every two days. Next thing I know, I’m at a party having several mixed drinks. I drunk so much at the party, I was sick the next morning.
Galatians 5:9 says, “A little leaven leavens the whole lump.”
That’s how sin is. It creeps in. You start with a little leeway here, then next thing you know you’re going overboard. When you give sin an inch, it takes a mile. Since then, I have repented and put down drinking for good. It’s been 3 months and I don’t plan on ever going back.
We all fall short and will have slip-ups, but sin should not be a habit. It should not be ingrained into our daily lives, part of our routine. Yah’s grace and mercy is not an excuse to sin. He has called us to live holy and if we truly want to follow Him, we have to be willing to give up things we find pleasure in that goes against His Word.
Never let anyone tell you that you are doing too much because you desire holiness. Never let anyone tell you that you can love Yah and have your sin. It’s not true. He has a standard and will not accept compromise.
So beware of those who encourage you to sin, to indulge a little here and there. Beware of those leaders who never encourage you to live holy. Remember we are called to meet Yah’s standard, not make Him fit ours.
Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you right now in Yahshua name. And we want to repent for our sins, anything we have done against you knowingly or unknowingly, we ask that you forgive us and help us to move forward in righteousness.
Please forgive us for those sins we have made a habit out of. Please take away our desires to do them and replace them with a desire to live holy and serve you. Help us to walk in true repentance, not just saying sorry but actually changing our actions and behavior to glorify You.
Thank You for this message and reminding us of Your standard and will for our lives. Thank you for not leaving us behind in our sin but calling us to greater. Please be gracious unto us as we work to change and extend your mercy unto us if we stumble.
Please give us the strategy we need to overcome and please send like minded believers to fellowship with us and help us be accountable to You. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit. We pray that when times get tough, You would send Him to remind us of Your Word and strengthen us to overcome. May you be glorified in all we do by your grace and for your glory in Yahushua name amen.
Thank you for reading, I pray this blessed you. If you made it all the way to the end comment “CHANGE” in all caps. Remember that faith isn’t just something you hear, it’s something you live.
